The purpose of this classification is to assist with the maintenance of cleanliness standards at the Senior Citizens kitchen and to work with the Director in planning, implementing, and instructing classes in ceramics and crafts at the Effingham County Senior Citizens Center.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Packs items for “Home Delivered Meals.” Helps volunteers to load meals in vehicles for delivery.
Delivers “Home Delivered Meals” on a determined route.
Performs duties to include set up, service and clean up of meals.
Cleans kitchen after Congregate Meals have been served, washes all pots, pans, pitchers, utensils, etc., keeps refrigerators, freezers, stove, warmer, counter tops, etc. clean.
Monitors usage of supplies; maintains proper inventory of paper plates, cups, napkins, utensils, condiments, etc.
Keeps Manager informed of what supplies to order to ensure inventory does not run out.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Plans and instructs craft projects, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, seasonal decorations, etc.
Plans and instructs ceramics classes; prepares each clients’ workstation by gathering and putting out stains, glazes, brushes, etc., to prepare ceramics; loads and unloads kiln; operates kiln.
Maintains inventory of all supplies; orders and picks up supplies as needed.
Figures prices of items to be sold at gift shop.
Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational training in CPR one; (1) year previous experience and/or training involving food service and teaching crafts; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and CPR certification.
